What is the role of a notary public?

Image
Notary Publics are senior lawyers with at least 15 years of experience practicing in Singapore, who are no younger than 40 years of age, and who have been appointed and approved by the Senate of the Singapore Academy of Law to serve as notaries. In Chapter 208, Section 8, the Notaries Public Act presents the rules with regard to the regulation of the Notary's services. It is the Notary Public's duty to notarize documents for overseas use in an independent and neutral manner. A foreign bank, government agency, educational institution, or lawyer may require the assurance that documents submitted are authentic and properly executed. First, a document must be notarised, then authenticated / legalised by the Singapore Academy of Law, then by the relevant embassy. Our company does not provide authentication / legalization services, but will hand it over to Ravindran Associates LLP if required. You will be charged additional fees.
